Moving into September like YEAH! August 30, 2020 13:13

Hello Fabulous Friends!

While it is still hard to make decisions on how to run our painting parties based on the current government's social distancing stance, we have elected to post our September Calendar to include our weekly Kid's Paint Classes and Hatha Yoga classes. For those adults seeking an art party, we will continue to offer Private Sessions for parties of all sizes either in person or through Zoom. We aim to work with your comfort level through these mysterious times. Pricing guidelines are included under our Private Party & Zoom page and also on our Kids Painting Party page.

Here is the link to our September 2020 Calendar:

Thank you all for your support of our small business! We greatly appreciate you throughout these tough times.

COVID-19 Procedures
As the children arrive, we will check the temperature of every child who enters. Anyone with a temperature of 100.1 (or higher) will not be allowed in our studio. We will show the kids how surgeons wash their hands. They will be required to wash their hands in this manner when they arrive, at both snack times, before and after lunch, and for the alternate art hour. The kids will also be required to clean up after themselves following each project. These duties include pick up after each art project, wiping down tables, sweeping, wiping the games they play with, etc.
With the new mandate for businesses to run at 25% capacity, we will host 12 kids or less each week at our summer art camp. IF the federal and state governments say we can open our business to host more than 25% capacity, we will extend our camp to include 15 kids per week. So our summer camp will remain small this year. Each child will have their own table to work from each day. We plan to clean our studio completely at the end of each day with a combination of Lysol concentrate and water, or Clorox and water.

A Message from the Art Cellar of Houston Team March 18, 2020 14:38

The Art Cellar of Houston changes through the Corona Virus Pandemic. While the Art Cellar of Houston has focused on hosting art parties for groups of 10 or more the last five years, with social distancing in force we no longer have that option. Going forward, we will focus on art parties of less than 10 individuals, with each individual at their own table work space at our studioWe will also offer private painting lessons for those interested. Simply call 832.596.7983 for details. We are also working to create weekly online classes for those looking for an in-depth lesson as one would find in our studios.

Yoga & Painting Classes @artcellarhouston November 1, 2018 10:01

Check out our Monthly Calendar for a listing of our public classes, including Slow Flow Yoga or Yoga and Painting classes. Classes can be taken individually or with a painting class.  Your choice at checkout which option you choose.

The Gift of Giving September 19, 2018 11:51

Last August we experienced Hurricane Harvey and an onset of financial struggles followed.  To prepare for the holiday season, we decided to begin shopping for family in September, at our ART IS AN Outdoor Market.  From September to December we continued to purchase from local artists and artisans.

Small businesses such as Brenda Grands Jewelry, State Line Designs, and Black Tea Cafe helped us to find unique gifts for our loved ones.

We quickly realized the feeling we had purchasing these very special hand made products was an overwhelming amount of happiness, and even felt by the gift receiver.  For years we heard the phrase "the gift of giving", but never understood the concept until last December.  How had we never known about this wonderful feeling of gift giving?

The answer is simple; we have become commercialized! Over the years shoppers are pulled away from small business purchases, and pushed towards the large retail centers to purchase what everyone else has. What is seen in commercials is what we look to fill in our lives.  We are separated from the unique and personalized gift giving experience. This year, Let us change the way we give gifts.  Rather than buying in bulk for your family, try to give a hand made gift from a small business or local art market. For an even more personalized gift try attending a local arts or crafts class to #makeityourown. The feeling is a very special amount of happiness when gifts are handmade. The experience will overwhelm you and the receiver, providing you both with a lifetime of happiness!

Check out our ART IS AN Outdoor Market Facebook Page (@artisanoutdoormarket) for a list of fabulous local artists, artisans, and farmers.  Here are a few more for your consideration:
