COVID-19 Procedures

As the children arrive, we will check their temperature. Please DO NOT ENTER until a teacher greets you at the door with the thermometer.  We aim to stop the spread of this virus before it enters our studios. Please do not send your child with sniffles, a cough, fever, or diarrhea to our studios. If we become aware of any of these symptoms we will call you to pick up your child.  We are thankful our studios have not been infected throughout the pandemic and shutdown, and believe it is because of our strict policy to protect everyone.  WE ALL appreciate your respect for our decision.
We will show the children how surgeons wash their hands. They will be required to wash their hands in this manner when they arrive, at both snack times, before and after lunch, and for the alternate art hour.
ALL children are required to clean up after themselves following each project. These duties include picking up after each art project, wiping down tables, sweeping, wiping the games they play with, etc.
We will continue to host 20 kids each week at our summer art camp.  Each table will have two children to work from each day. We sanitize our studio completely at the end of each day with a combination of Melaleuca Disinfectant and Thieves Multipurpose Cleaner.
The children attending the Mindful Movement Summer Camp participate in a variety of activities daily (each week). The morning begins with a 2-hour art class, followed by yoga, and then lunch. Half-day students will leave at 1230P. After lunch and board games, the children will have a one-hour session with a local artist or maker, followed by a two-hour art history lesson and project.

OUR DAY

We focus our days learning from each other, to work as a team through various artistic projects.  The participants will design art projects based upon the artist and art medium they learned about that day.
Half-day participants will have the two-hour Art Session every morning followed by one hour of yoga. They will go home at 1230P. Please remember to pack a lunch for your half-day little one as lunch is from 12-1230P

The Alternative Art Hour

Each week the Mindful Movement Summer Camp will ask a local artist to provide the kids with an hour to one and a half hour class in their art profession. This alternative art hour is for full-time students only. Below is the breakdown of  afternoon classes offered to full-day students:
Ceramics with Ms. K
Offered June Wk 1 & 3, July Wk 2 & 4, Aug Wk 2
Ceramics: This week's summer camp includes a one-and-a-half-hour session of ceramics making with Ms. K. Ms. K will be guiding the children through the process of handmade pinched pottery. After the pottery is completed we will allow drying overnight. On day two the children will use a technique called under glazing to paint their piece. Under glazing is a clay-based stain used much like watercolor or acrylic. The children will create two pieces to be fired. We will keep the ceramics to dry for two weeks, and fire them with a clear gloss overglaze. You will be notified by email when they are ready for pick up at our studios.

Food & Snacks

The children use a lot of brainpower during the day and require fruits and veggies to sustain themselves until 430p.  This applies to half-day students as well.
Please make sure to pack a healthy lunch for your child as lunch is not included in our price.
This year we will provide two healthy snacks each day to your little ones. If your child has specific food allergies, we ask you to send them with two snacks they are able to eat.
Candy, Cookies, Chocolate, and soft drinks are NOT healthy snacks and NOT ALLOWED in our studios. These items cause sugar burnout and fatigue. We will take any of these items and throw them out when found.
