Thu, Aug 10, 6-8pm “Handlettering” Public Houston Arts Class

Presented by Katie Moreno of Letter All The Things

You’ve seen it on cards, wedding stationery, planners, and all over social media – it’s only natural you’d want to learn to do it yourself! Learn how to do modern lettering in a fun hands-on class!

No artistic talent needed and any handwriting skill-level is welcome! Perfect penmanship to chicken scratch – I promise, everyone can learn to letter!

For the first hour we will cover basic technique from how to hold the pen to creating letter forms with brush tipped markers, Crayola markers, and watercolors. Then we’ll create 3 custom greeting cards with matching envelopes. In addition, you’ll get to take home your very own starter kit! All supplies are provided, but if you already own any type of lettering supplies (brush pens, markers, watercolors, etc.) bring ’em and we’ll play!

You’ll take home:

  • 3 Tombow Dual Brush Pens (in raspberry, purple, and teal) each with a flexible brush tip for big, bold letters and a fine tip for details and touch ups
  • Tombow colorless blender pen softens and blends colors
  • 2 Fudenosuke calligraphy pens, one with a soft tip with flexible brush and a hard tip with firm brush
  • 1 Twin tip black permanent marker – bullet tip and fine point
  • Smudge-proof pencil for sketching
  • Tombow Mono eraser removes guidelines without damaging paper or ink drawings
  • Mini chalkboard on easel
