What are the ages of children who attend?
Our studio places a limit of 23 kids per week (18 kids full day students, 5 half day students) to provide a more concentrated learning experience.
The children use a lot of brain power during the day and require fruits and veggies to sustain themselves until 430p. This applies to half-day students as well. Please make sure to pack a healthy lunch and one snack for your child (not included in price). We provide one healthy snack in the afternoon to your little ones. If your child has specific food allergies, we ask you please send them with two snacks they are able to eat.
There is an additional fee of $25 per day / per child for late pick up (5p). We do not offer Early Drop off at our studios. Doors open at 8a. Please know our staff does not arrive at our studio until 8a, and we leave at 5p. Drop off prior to 8a and pick up after 5p is not an option.
Here is the breakdown of who will be teaching for the summer 2024.
What is the Alternative Art Hour (AAH):
Each week the Mindful Movement Summer Camp will team up with a local artist to provide the kids with an hour class in their art profession. This alternative art hour is for full-time students only. Below is the breakdown of afternoon classes offered to full-day students:
Air Dry Clay Creations is offered as a one-and-a-half-hour session of ceramics making with air dry clay. Students will learn how to design their two creations on the first day of camp, and then work to create two objects and paint them (Tuesday through Thursday). After the pottery is completed we will allow drying overnight. All children will go home with their creations at the end of the week. Children attending the following weeks will enjoy our air dry clay experience: June Wk 1 & Wk 3; July Wk 5 & 7; Aug Wk 9
The Mix includes a variety of local small business owners teaching the children their style of art. We aim to keep to the following schedule the best we can, but some weeks may change depending on each teacher's availability for Summer 2025.
Mondays: Animal Talk with Houston Humane Society. Animals will be in our studio
Tuesday: Pancake Art with Bird & Twine
Wednesday: Ayurvedic Tea Blending with Roots in Harmony)
Thursday: Plant Talk, Origami, Bath Bombs, or Tie-Dye
Children attending the following weeks will enjoy the above projects: June Wk 2 & 4, July Wk 6 & 8, Aug Wk 10.
What is your policy on Refunds?
Your registration for this summer camp allows our business to remain open. While we do not offer refunds, we appreciate you looking to move your registration to another week, or we will offer you three private lessons ($450 value) for full day students, based on our availability (in person or through zoom). We do not offer refunds.
What are your clean studio procedures?
Our teachers work very hard to provide a safe, clean, and healthy environment for your little one(s). Mindful learning begins at home and continues at The Art Cellar of Houston. We will continue to follow the Independent School Districts COVID guidelines maintaining the following requirements for all children as of 2025:
- We will show the children how surgeons wash their hands. They will be required to wash their hands in this manner when they arrive, at both snack times, before and after lunch, and for the alternate art hour.
- ALL children are required to clean up after themselves following each project. These duties include pick up after each art project, wiping down tables, sweeping, wiping the games they play with, moving tables and chairs for yoga, and lunch, etc.
- We will continue to host 23 kids each week at our summer art camp. Each table will have two children to work from each day. We sanitize our studio completely at the end of each day with a combination of Melaleuca Disinfectant and Thieves Multipurpose Cleaner.
