Art Cellar Houston "Wednesdays Kids Paint", After School Art Program 2023-2024

The Art Cellar Houston "Kids Paint" after-school art class is geared for children to learn the basics of sketching and painting with acrylics, watercolor, and alcohol inks. This class features 20 minutes of art history about an artist, followed by step-by-step instructions to guide children (age 5 and up) to create an art project surrounding this artist.  Children will be working on a different medium each week. This link is to provide you the option to reserve each month we are in session from September 2023 to May 2024.  
 

This Kids Paint After School Art Class is every Wednesday from 4 to 6p, with breaks every 30-45 minutes (or as needed).

Age: 5 to 12

Price Per Class:

Classes in Sketch, Pastel, Gelli Printing, Watercolor, or Acrylic Painting on Canvas are $30 per child

Classes teaching Alcohol ink are $35 per child, and Acrylic Pouring is $39 per child. 

Acrylic Painting on Canvas

Acrylic painting on canvas will explore the primary colors, blending to create secondary and tertiary colors, drawing with a paintbrush, and creating dimensions with colors.

Watercolor Basics

We will explore the color wash technique, and practice layering light, medium, and dark colors to create dimension.

Week 3 - Alcohol Inks on tiles

Alcohol inks are an acid-free, highly pigmented, and fast-drying medium to be used on non-porous surfaces.  We paint on ceramic tiles of various sizes, coffee cups, tea plates, and Yupo Paper, using cotton balls, Q-tips, and other household items to create our own unique designs.

Week 4 - Acrylic Pour "The Science Experiment"

Acrylic Pour is a science experiment combining acrylic paint, pouring medium, and liquids that turn to gas once they blend with acrylic paint (H2O or Isopropyl Alcohol). We will explore two formulas on two different canvases'. This class is geared toward ages 7 and up. We use Isopropyl Alcohol as our mixing agent.  If you or your children have an aversion to strong odors, please bring a breathing mask. 

Please pack snacks and beverages as this is not included in our price!  Painting supplies and instructions will be provided to your child.

All Sessions in 2023 will be held on Wednesdays from 4-6p for children ages 5 and up. We do not work with children under the age of 5
